TVA is a member of the NuStart consortium, which is composed of eight other utility companies, plus General Electric Company and Westinghouse Electric Company. The consortium was formed to investigate the design, certification and licensing of advanced nuclear power reactors in connection with the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Power 2010 program.

Power System Facts

The TVA power system includes three nuclear, 11 fossil, 29 hydroelectric, and one pumped-storage plant. TVA also has combustion-turbine and diesel generator sites, and its renewable energy program, Green Power Switch, includes solar, wind, and methane gas facilities.

There are {local} locally owned distributors that sell TVA electricity to consumers and 58 large industrial customers that receive TVA power directly.
