A federal program called Conversations With America is designed to encourage public comment on how to improve government services to citizens. The following monthly calendar lists meetings that provide forums for public questions and comments.

The fifth term of TVA’s Regional Resource Stewardship Council (RRSC) will hold its second meeting on March 4 and 5 to discuss TVA’s Natural Resource Plan (NRP) scope and preliminary draft alternatives included in the components of the NRP. The RRSC will hear public comments from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Friday, March 5.

TVA’s Growth Readiness Program, in conjunction with the Southeast Watershed Forum, is hosting two, day-long Quality Growth workshops. These sessions target planners and engineers with information and tools to guide growth to reduce impacts on a wide array of community resources, such as water and air quality.

TVA is sponsoring these workshops and will have a speaker at each session.

Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner’s Council on Greenways and Trails

TVA Kingston Fly Ash Release Environmental Research Symposium

Roane State Community College, Harriman, Tennessee

A research symposium will be held to facilitate the exchange of information among researchers, and coordinate site access and sampling logistics; and to identify the priorities and gaps in current research and technology regarding the impact of fly ash in the environment. An open poster session will be held on March 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. No registration will be required for the open poster session.

TVA Annual Wildflower Walks

TVA will hold guided spring wildflower walks at the River Bluff TVA Small Wild Area on the Norris Dam Reservation. The walks are free and are hosted by TVA Stewardship staff members and the Watts Bar-Clinch Watershed Team. Cooperators include Ijam’s Nature Center, Norris Dam State Park, and the Friends of Norris Dam State Park. The trail is a moderately difficult, 3.4 mile loop and is known for a spectacular array of spring wildflowers, especially yellow trout lilies, celandine poppies, bloodroot, spring beauties, and toothwort. The hikes will be held if rainy conditions occur; however, onsite high winds or thunderstorms occasionally cancel hikes. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather.
